Foreign over 20 years worked in various military medical organisation, mainly in Centr Asia. 1923 published a monograph on malaria which became a standard work for general practitioners engaged in the campaign against this disease. 1937-1951 worked in Parasitology Department, All-Union Institute of Experimental Medical
Did research on tick-borne relapsing fever, Pappatacci’s fever and skin leishmaniosis. By means of self-infection established that tick-bite relapsing fever of the Centr Asian type is transmitted by the tick Ornithodorus papillipes. Discovered a new from of this disease associated with the gerbil Rhombomys opimus and carried by Spirochaeta latyshevi.
Spent eight years studying skin leishmaniosis along the Murgab river and proved that this disease is zoonotic and is transmitted to human beings by the great gerbil (Rhombomys opimus) and certain other rodents. Also studied leishmaniosis along the Karakum Canal and worked out suitable countermeasures.
Religion is bad because it obstructs scientific research.
