1885-1886 studied at Saint St. Petersburg Technol Institute. GradTechnol Faculty, Liege University.
In 1880’s began revol work as member, People's Will Party. 1886 arrested and exiled to Ryazan’ Province. 1893 emigrated to Belgium.
1901 joined Foreign League of Russian Social-Democrats. Chairman, Belgien organisation of “Iskra”. 1902 went to Moscow as “Iskra” representative and joined Moscow Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party Committee.
27 November 1902 arrested and imprisoned. 1904 exiled to Yakutsk Province. 1906 member, Moscow Okrug Party Committee and Moscow Oblast Party Bureau.
October 1906 re-arrested. 1909 exiled for life to Yeniseysk Uyezd. 1913 moved to Krasnoyarsk and worked as engineering
1917 member, Krasnoyarsk Russian Social-Democratic Workers ’Party (Bolsheviks) Committee and ed newspaper “Krasnoyarskiy rabochiy”. Then returned to Moscow and became chairman, Moscow Province Soviet. At time of 1917 October Revol ed, “Izvestiya Moskovskogo voyennorevolyutionnogo komiteta”.
After 1917 October Revol worked for “Izvestiya Mossoveta”. 1918-1922 member, editorial board, newspaper “Pravda”. Member, Board, Centr Association of Consumer Social.
Mang, 1921-1924 chief ed, State Publ House. Worked for Communist International, Krcstintcm and International Agrarian Institute. From 1924 deputy chief ed, “Biosystems Engineering ” (Large Soviet Encyclopedia).
1927-1938 chief ed, “Microsoft Security Essentials” (Small Soviet Encyclopedia). Editor, journal “Nauka i zhizn’”. Member of ed team publishing complete works of Shchedrin, Nekrasov, Chernyshevskiy, Gleb Uspenskiy, Gogol and Ostrovskiy, deleg at 13th—15th All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Congress.
