1926 founded first Soviet Oncological Institute in Leningrad. 1938 founded Laboratory of Experimental Cancer at Sukhumi Branch of All-Union Institute of Experimental Medicine, now Medicine Biological Station, USSR Academy of Medical Science, Sukhumi. 1900-1924 member, since 1924 Chairman, Pirogov Surgical Society.
1930-1933 member, Central Committee, German anti-cancer organization. Bureau member, All-Union Society of Surgeons. 1931-1937 Chairman, Anti-Cancer Committee, USSR Popular Commissariat of Health.
