1901 returned to Saint St. Petersburg and became active in League for the Liberation of the Working Class. December 1895 again arrested and exiled. 1898 emigrated to Germany and worked at various plants.
1901-1904, after returning to Russia, worked in Ukraine. From 1904 again at Putilov Plant. Member, Putilov Plant Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party Organisation
1905 helped organize Putilov strike. October 1905 elected member, Saint St. Petersburg Soviet of Workers’ Deputy. From 1907 deputy, 3rd State Duma from Petersbuig workers’ curia.
Headed Bolshevik wing of Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party faction in Duma. Helped publish newspapers “Zvezda” and “Pravda”. From 1913 worked at Saint St. Petersburg Mechanical Plant.
Routed Bolshevik correspondence with Lenin. 1917 directed “Pravda” printing press 1918-1921 publishing and admin work in Moscow.
1921 moved to Tuapse on medical grounds and worked for People's Commissariat of Foreign Trade.
