1909 graduate Medical Faculty, Kiev University.
Specialized in physiology under I. P. Pavlov. 1912-1916 worked at Chair of Physiology, Moscow University. 1913 defended doctor’s thesis on the physiology of sleep.
1914-1916 gave special course on practical physiology at the Physiological Laboratory, Moscow University. 1916-1920 associate professor, from 1921 professor Chair of Physiology, Rostov Medical Institute.
Founder-chairman, Rostov Physiologists’ Social. Founded several laboratories and sci Institute in Rostov-on-Don. Company-ed, physiology section, “Bol’shaya meditsinskaya entsiklopediya” (Large Medical Encyclopedia) (2nd ed).
Company-ed, various sci journals. Did major research on the physiology of digestion. In latter years studied the functions of the subcortical section of the brain.
On the basis of Pavlov’s structural theory. Wrote over 200 works.
Religiously inspired people justify violence, resist social changes, and attack on science.
Marxism–Leninism as the only truth could not, by its very nature, become outdated.
Member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Medical Sciences from 1945.
