Nikolay SIROTININ, USSR Immunologist and pathological physiologist.


SIROTININ, Nikolay was born in 1896.


1924 graduated Medical Faculty, Saratov University.


Professor; Doctor of Medicine and Biological Science since 1924. Corresponding member, Ukrainia Academy of Science, since 1939. Full member, USSR Academy of Medical Science, since 1957.

Head, Chair of Pathological Physiology, Kiev Medicine Institute, since 1955. Head,Department of Comparative Physiology, Institute of Physiology, Ukrainia Academy of Sciences, since 1946. Consultant, Laboratory of Immunology and Pathological Physiology, Kiev Institute of Infectious Diseases, USSR Academy of Medical Science, since 1955.

Honoured Worker of Science of Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic since 1940. 1929-1934 founded Chair of Pathological Physiology at Medical Faculty, Kazan University. 1937-1942 founded Laboratory of Experimental Medicine at Ukrainia Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology.

Chairman, Bureau, Kiev Society of Pathologists. Board member, All-Union Society of Pathological Physiologists and Ukrs. Society of Microbiologists, Epidemiologists and Infectionists.

Presidium member, Learned Medicine Council, and member, Hospital Council, Ukrainia Minister of Public Health. Member, Editorial Board journal “Vrachebnoe delo” (Medical Affairs). Member, Editor Council journal “Arkhiv patologii” (Pathology Archives) and other medical journals.

Works deal with evolution of body response, effects of external stimuli, oxygen starvation, pathogenesis and prophylaxis of altitude sickness, etc. 1924-1925 Assistant, Chair of General Pathology, Saratov University. 1925-1929 lecturer, 2nd Moscow University and senior associate, Institute for the Study of Higher Nervous Activity, USSR Communist Academy, and other institutions.

1929-1934 Professor, Chairs of Pathological Physiology, Medical Faculty, Kazan University, and Kazan Veterinary Institute, and Head,Department of Pathological Physiology, Kazan Veterinary Research Institute and Tatar Institute of Experimental Medicine. 1934-1941 Head,Department of Comparative Pathology, Institute of Experimental Biology and Pathology, Ukrainia Popular Commissariat of Health. 1934-1943 at Institute of Clinical Physiology, Ukrainia Academy of Sciences.

1937-1942 Head,Department of Experimental Medicine, Ukrainia Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. 1944-1955 senior associate, Institute of Microbiology, Ukrainia Academy of Sciences. Head, Laboratory of Immunology and Pathological Physiology, Kiev Institute of Infectious Diseases, USSR Academy of Medical Science.
