1899 graduate Medical Faculty, Saint Vladimir University, Kiev.
After graduate trained and worked under V.P.Obraztsov. 1902-1904 prepared doctor’s thesis on physiology of intestines at Pavlov’s Laboratory, Saint St. Petersburg Military Medical Academy. 1907-1919 professor, Chair of Special Pathology and Therapy, Kiev Women's Medical Institute.
From 1919 head, Chair of Therapy, Novorossiysk University. From 1922 director, Propaedeutic Clinic, then Hospital Clinic, 1929-1952 director, Faculty Clinic, Kiev Medical Institute. From 1934 also worked at Institute of Clinical Physiology, Ukraine Academy of Sciences.
During World War 2 hospital consultant, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Ministry of Health and professor, Chair of Therapy, Bashkir Medical Institute and 1st Moscow Medical Institute. From 1943 director, Ukraine Institute of Clinical Medical, which he founded in 1936 and which now bears his name. Board member. All-union and All-Ukraine Social of Therapists.
Member, Learned Council, Ukraine People's Commissariat of Health. Member, Rheumatism Committee. Editor, various medical journals.
Did research on pathology of circulatory system and described several cardiovascular syndromes. Together with Vice-President Obraztsov, made First intra vitam study of coronary occlusion. Devised theory and classification of circulatory insufficiency.
Hypothesized that rheumatism is an infectious-allergic disease with a streptococcic etiology. Studied relationship between sepsis, endocarditis and rheumatism. Wrote over 100 works.
