Nikolay Konstantinovich Tolochko is a Belarusian physicist, educator, and professor whose research has contributed to materials science, nanotechnology, composite materials, and laser-based additive manufacturing. He has also held research and academic leadership positions in Belarusian scientific and higher-education institutions.
Background
Nikolay Konstantinovich Tolochko was born in 1951 in Polotsk, Belarus. His professional formation developed within Belarusian scientific and higher-education institutions, where he combined research in solid-state physics and materials science with teaching and academic administration.
Education
Tolochko studied engineering at the Minsk Radiotechnical Institute from 1968 to 1973, completing his degree on November 30, 1973. His later scientific specialization was in solid-state physics, in which he obtained the degree of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences in 1992. He received the academic status of professor in technology in 2000.
Career
Tolochko began working in 1976 at the Institute of Technical Acoustics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, formerly the Vitebsk branch of the Institute of Solid-State Physics and Semiconductors. From 1991 he led the laboratory of composite materials. Between 1999 and 2002 he served as deputy director for scientific work, and in 2002–2003 he was acting director of the institute. His research in this period focused on composite materials, materials technologies, nanomaterials, laser processing, and the development of powder-based manufacturing methods.
From 2004 he continued his academic career in higher education and worked as a professor at the Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University. He was listed as head of a laboratory at the Institute of Technical Acoustics and Vitebsk State University during 2004–2008, and as a professor at the Belorussian State Agrarian Technology University from 2008 to 2011. His later work at the Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University has included teaching and research in technical-service technologies, additive manufacturing, agricultural engineering, unmanned aerial vehicles, and related technological applications.
