1924 graduate Higher Military Academy Courses.
During World War 1 private, 1st Orenburg Cossack Division. 1918 organized Red Guard squad in Troitsk. September 1918 his squad, operatin in Southern Urals in the rear of Kolchak’s forces, linked up with units of the 3rd Army, Eastern Front and was reorganized into a brigade under Tomin’s command.
1920 commander, 10th Cavalry Division on Western Front. 1921 helped rout White forces in Kuban’ and crush Antonov Revolt in Tambov Province. From late 1921 commanded Transport-Baykal Forces Group.
May 1924 commanded Separate Altay Cavalry Brigade in campaign against Basmachi movement in eastern Bukhara.
