1875-1877 studied at Saint St. Petersburg Medical Surgical Academy.
Late 1876 joined “Land and Liberty” Social. Conducted revol propaganda among workers. 1878 arrested and exiled to Eastern Siberia.
1892 settled in Novgorod. Played leading part in organizing “People's Right” liberal populist party. 1894 re-arrested; 1895 exiled for eight years to Eastern Siberia.
1904 returned to European Russia. 1905 accomplice in plot to assassinate Saint St. Petersburg Governor-General Trepov. 1905 emigrated; from 1918 worked for History of the Revol Archives, Petrograd.
From 1923 contributed to journal “Katorga i ssylka”.
