In 1973, he studied at Omsk Higher Tank Engineering College and at Malinovsky Military Armored Forces Academy in 1987. He served in the Kiev Military District.
Career
In 1992, he was transferred to the Main Armored Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense. He was Deputy Chief of Staff, Deputy Head of the Organizational and Planning Department and Deputy Chief of Staff of this Department.
Since 1998, he has been Deputy Chief of Staff of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, since 2000, he has been Head of the Department and then Deputy Chief of the General Administration of Personnel of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
On 5 January 2005, he was appointed the First Deputy Head of the General Administration of Personnel of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
