1884 graduate Novorossiysk University, Odessa.
1885 worked in Gottingen, Germany. 1886 obtained first sample dichlorodiethyl sulfide (mustard gas). From 1888 associate professor, Novorossiysk University.
From 1893 head, Chair of Analitic Chemistry, Moscow University. 1895— 1907 synthesized homologs of cyclopenthane and cyclohexane. Did major research on organic synthesis.
1911 resigned from Moscow University in protest against policies of Education Minister Kasso and became head, Saint St. Petersburg Centr Laboratory, Minister of Finance. In same year discovered dehydrogenation catalysis reaction subsequently used on an industry scale to obtain aromatic hydrocarbons from oil for the manufacture of drugs, dyes, synthetic nrbber, explosives, et cetera 1915-1924 did research on the regeneration of coked catalysts with air, achieving results providing the basis for industry catalytic cracking and dehydrogenation 20—25 years later.
1915 also developed coal gasmask for universal use. 1917 returned to Moscow University, where he worked until his death. 1918 benzinized heavy oil carbons.
Trained numerous outstanding chemists, many of whom now hold professorships. Company-founder, Mendeleyev All-Union Chemical Social. Also founded chemistry facs at various university.
Founded Chair of Organic Catalysis and Oil Chemistry, Moscow University. Company-founder, Institute of Organic Chemistry, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences, which now bears his name. Wrote over 500 works.
There is no solid or tangible evidence for God nor a logical argument for God. The existence of God is taken on faith and not by evidence.
Marxism–Leninism as the only truth could not, by its very nature, become outdated.
