From 1923 professor, Kiev Institute of Public Education. From 1933 professor of Ukraine lit, Kiev University. 1912 first work printed.
Contributed reviews to pedag journal “Svet”. 1919-1920 ed, bibliographical journal “Knigar”’. 1921 member, ed staff, journal “Golos pechati”.
Contributed to journals “Literaturno-nauchnyy vestnik,” “Krasnyy put’” and “Zhizn’ i rcvolyutsiya”. In 1920's member, Ukraine Neoclassicists. During 1925-1927 lit controversy supported Khvylyovyy, who opposed the socialist principles of Soviet Ukraine literature
1930 recanted his views and criticized his “ideological errors”. Wrote articles on Lesya Ukrainka, A. Svidnitsky, I. Franko, A. Shchogolev, Marko Cheremshin, V. Samoylenko, P. Tychina, M. Ryl’skiy and V. Sosyura. Also wrote studies of Ukraine fables and proverbs and modem Ukraine poetry.
Translated into Ukraine Latin poet, Russian, French and Polish writers and Latin verse of G. Skovoroda. Arrested by State Security organs.
