Stalin Prizes, 1943, 1951. Member, Communist Party, since 1945.
ZHUKOV, Nikolay was born in 1908.
1930 graduated Saratov Art Technicum.
Master of real-life genre and precise draftsmanship. At first designed book covers, painted advertisements and did retouching work, later turning to illustrations, sketching and water colors. During World War II contributed to Armenian newspaper “Za razgrom vraga” (For Defeat of the Enemy) on Kalinin front, then first special art corresponding of “Pravda”.
1943 appointed Artistic Director, Grekov Studio of War Artists, and traveled with its mobile workshop from the Dnieper to Kaunas. After World War II until 1953 member, Editorial Board, newspaper “Sovetskoe iskusstvo” (Soviet Art), later Secretary, Organization Committee, USSR Union of Artists.
