Nikolay Ilyich graduated from the military-technical school of air defense troops (1962), the Institute of Literature named after A.M. Gorky (1977).
Nikolay Ilyich served as an officer in the Arctic (Rybachy Peninsula, 1962-1968), Voronezh (1968-1976). He was a correspondent of the newspaper of the Trans-Baikal Military District (Chita, 1976-1978), editor of the divisional newspaper (Borzya, Chita Region, 1978-1982; Potsdam, German Democratic Republic, 1982-1987). In Voronezh since 1987.
The beginning of his literary activity dates back to the mid-1960s. It was published in the magazines "Our Contemporary", "Young Guard", "North", "Rise" and others.
