Nisshu was a Buddhist priest of the Nichiren Sect. His other name was ,Toe. Wrote many books including "Commentaries On the Three Great Books of the Tendai Sect" which was presented to Emperor Goyozei and commentaries on Nichiren's Rissho A nkoku-ron.
Nisshu was born in 1532.
Raised by Nittei, priest of the Honryiij i temple in Kyoto, he went to Mount Hiei (1538) to study the Tendai Sect doctrine.
Upon the death of Nittei (1558) he became chief priest of the Honryiiji temple. Afterward he gave the temple to Nichigyo and retired to the Honkyoji temple in Obama in Wakasa Province (Fukui Prefecture).
