Nistula previously worked for The Times of India and The Economic Times. Nistula was senior assistant editor at The Financial Express in New Delhi. She is a Mangalorean (Smartha Brahmin) and was born and brought up in Delhi.
She has also done Masters in Sociology from Delhi School of Economics.
Her mother is Kumudakshi Hebbar and her father is A South Hebbar. Nistula Hebbar wrote a Pulp Fiction based book Kiss and Tell in 2012.
The book is based on a love story of a political journalist and bureaucrat, set in Lutyens" power circuit in Delhi. Nistula has been in the field of Journalism since 2000.
