He became an official of the Osaka Municipal Office and a director of the Meiji Bank in 1894. Took part in tho foundation of the Naniwa Bank and became its president in 1908. Established the Nihon Trust Bank jointly with Tokuzo Shima in 1920 and was appointed a member of the House of Peers in 1925.
