Background

Mon-in Karaku was born in 1411. She was the daughter of Takanaga. She born with the name of Nobuko Fujiwara and also called Higashi Toin-dono.

Mon-in Karaku became a nun at the Hiden-in Temple under the name of Eiryo (1472) and was later given the title of Mon-in (1481).

Mon-in Karaku married Emperor Gohanazono and became the mother of Emperor Tsuchimikado.
