When the Western opera was introduced into Japan, Hara Nobuko performed at the Teikokukan Theater in Akasaka, Tokyo. She visited the United States in 1920 and Europe in 1925. Her performance was well received abroad, like that of Tamaki Miura. She won the Culture Prize of the Mainichi Shimbun in 1950 for her contribution to the Japanese opera. She directs the Hara Nobuko Opera Studio. Her favorite opera is Tosca.
