Nobutaka Matsudaira was born in 1900 in Kyoto, Japan.
He graduated from Kyoto University.
Since 1951 Nobutaka Matsudaira was senior managing director of Bridgestone Tire Manufacturing Company. In 1923 he entered Far Eastern Branch of Dunlop Rubber Manufacturing Company in Kobe. Transferred to Bridgestone Tire Manufacturing Company in 1931 and became chief of its Chemistry and Experiment Sections.
In 1938 he went to U.S.A. and Europe to study tire manufacturing technique. After returning home became chief of Research Department in 1939 and chief of Planning Department in 1941. Later he was promoted to director and after the company was renamed Nihon Tire Company in 1942, he became superintendent of its Kurume Plant in 1944 and then managing director in 1947.
Toured U.S.A. inspecting the rubber industry there in 1950 and thereafter was promoted to senior managing director of the same company, the name of which was later changed back to Bridgestone Tire Company in 1951.Then he was appointed vice-chairman of Kurume Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
