He was named as full-back on the All-Star hurling teams of 1990 and 1991. In 2010 another seven players joined the group by winning U-21 and senior medals that year. Sheehy was the manager of the Tipperary Under 21 team in 2002 where Tipperary lost to Limerick in the Munster final.
