Nwachukwu studied at the University of Technology in Loughborough, United Kingdom. In 1969 he received a degree of the Bachelor. In a year he was a student of the Birmingham University in the United Kingdom. Nwachukwu received a degree of the Master of Science. In 1974 he studied at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. he became a Doctor of Philosophy. From 1983 to 1984 Nwachukwu was a student of the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow City, United Kingdom. He studied at the faculty of Food Science.
Nwachukwu was an apprentice of British Gypsum Limited in Loughborough, United Kingdom from 1967 to 1968. In a year he became a Research assistant at Fry's Metal Company in London, Mpumalanga, South Africa. From 1974 to 1975 Nwachukwu worked as an assistant design engineer in British Gas Corporation in Edinburgh, Indiana, United States. In 1975 he became a Lecturer in the second University of Nigeria in Nsukka, Nigeria. he held this position until 1977. From 1977 to 1979 Nwachukwu was a Lecturer. In 1984 he became a Head department of food science and technology. He held this position until 1986. Also, he held this position from 1988 to 1990 and from 1992 to 1995.
