In the reign of Emperor Kimmei (539-571), Shiragi, a country in Korea, revolted and Ki-no-Omaro was sent by the Emperor to subdue it. Ikina, as vice-commander of the expeditionary forces, went to Korea and Obako accompanied her husband. Ikina and his wife were captured by enemy forces and he was killed. Obako, in sorrow, sang a song lamenting her husband and expressing her desire to return to Japan.
