He was capped 20 times for Norway, and scored five international goals. His position on the field was outside right. Frantzen died under tragic circumstances on 2 October 1977, as he was kicked to death in his home by an intruder.
A 25-year-old man was arrested and convicted of manslaughter for the crime.
