Background
Okatsu-no-Kata was born in 1578. She was a concubine of Tokugawa Ieyasu. She came from a relatively unknown origin. She was either Ota Dokan's adopted daughter, Toyama Naokage's daughter, or Edo Shigemichi's daughter. Her other names are Oha and Okatsu.
Connections
Okatsu- no-Kata became a lady-in-waiting of Ieyasu (1590) and gave birth to two daughters, Matsuhime and Ichihime both died in infancy. She accompanied Ieyasu in his expeditions against the Toyotomis in Osaka. After Ieyasu died (1616), she became a nun and called herself Eishoin. Some records say she married Masatsuna Matsudaira after Ieyasu died.
