First woman in Russia to hold a master’s degree (from 1915). From 1916 professor of medieval history, Higher Women's Courses. Then professor, Leningrad University;1922-1939 simultaneously in Manuscripts Department, Saltykov-Shchedrin State Public Library.
Studied paleography, culture and religion of medieval Europe. First to introduce into university syllabus teaching of Latin paleography and other collateral medieval subjects. Studied, published,catalogued and analysed ancient Latin texts of Leningrad Public Library.
Religion is bad because it imposes irrational rules of good and bad behaviour.
Individuals have rights to express freedom if it safeguarde the interests of a collective.
