He spent two years in prison on trumped-up charges by the SBU for possession of 40 rounds of ammunition. In 1997 he came to the United States of America, then received the status of refugee in Canada, where he founded the new community. This position is one of the ancient interpretations of a passage from the Gospel of John 21:20-24:
"Seeing him, Peter saith to Jesus, Lord, and what of this man? Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? This is the disciple that beareth witness of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his witness is true.".
