Samaroff, Olga was born on August 8, 1882 in San Antonio, Texas, United States. Daughter of Carlos and Jane Hickenlooper.

Education

Studied Paris Conservatory, 1894-1897, with Ernst Jedlitzke, Berlin, 1901-1903. Honorary Doctor of Music, University of Pennsylvania, 1931.

Career

Maria Noël. Debut with New York Symphony Orchestra, January 18, 1905. Has frequently toured United States and Europe and has played with practically all large orchestras. Now member piano faculty, Juilliard Graduate School of Music, New York Head piano faculty Philadelphia Conservatory.

Founder of Schubert Memorial, Inc. (1928); founder and director The Listeners Music Courses, Inc., of New York and Philadelphia Author: The Layman’s Music Book, 1935. The Magic World of Music, A Music Manual, 1937.

An American Musician’s Story, 1939. Lecturer on musical subjects. Home: 24 W. 55th St., New York.
