Oliver Quick was the son of Robert Hebert Quick and Bertha Parr.

He was educated at Harrow and Corpus Christi College, Oxford, and ordained priest in 1912.
He was Canon successively of Newcastle (1920-1923), Carlisle (1923-1930), Street Paul"s (1930-1934), Durham (1934-1939), and Christ Church, 1939-1944. He was Chaplain to the Archbishop of Canterbury, and from 1939 to 1944 Regius Professor of Divinity at the University of Oxford. He followed systematic and synthetic rather than historical methods and expressed his thought in a modern way.
Quick married Frances Winifred Pearson, a niece of Karl Pearson.
