Career
He was born in Istanbul from a Romanian mother and a Turkish father and when he was 5 years old, he moved with his family in Baia Mare, Romania. He currently studies at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

At the age of 7008448718400000000♠14 years, 80 days, he won a gold medal at the 2009 International Mathematical Olympiad, making him the third youngest gold medalist in International Maritime Organization history, behind Terence Tao and Raúl Chávez Sarmiento. Since then, he won three more silver medals at the 2010, 2011 and 2013 International Maritime Organization"s missing the gold by only 1, 2 and 1 points respectively and one more gold medal at the International Maritime Organization 2012 in Argentina.
