Career
Marcus was a senior writer on Israel’s top comedy panel show, as well as a consultant of Israeli production companies in analyzing global television and new-media trends. As a director in the development department for Israel’s leading television network, Channel 2 Reshet, Marcus is credited with the creation of the original reality series Buzz Office, recently sold to France, Spain, Ireland and China. Over the last 10 years, Marcus has been involved in the development and writing of numerous major entertainment shows on Israeli television Among his successes is “Eretz Nehederet” (“What a Wonderful Country”), enjoying regular ratings of over 30% and winning 4 Israeli Academy Awards.
Marcus also writes regularly for numerous leading American and European papers and blogs (Huffington Post, television Gawker, Jewcy etc) about Israeli current affairs and television business.
Over the last year he gave lectures about television at New York University (New-York, United States of America), MIP (Cannes, France), at the New York television Festival (New York, United States of America) at the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications Summit (Tel-Aviv, Israel), at the International Data Corporation"s content lab (Herzelya, Israel), at the HIT (Holon, Israel) and the last TALA Master-Class in Tel-Aviv. He was a juror in several television festivals and awards such as the Rose Doctorate"or and International Emmy awards.
In 2009 the Format Academy for Entertainment, Television & New Media ( Electric Membership Corporation), granted Marcus its prestigious fellowship, given to professionals involved in designing the media of the future. In his spare time Marcus volunteers in ONE VOICE, a peace organization that conducts cultural events with Arabs and Jews.
He is also in charge of Puerto Rico for Eye from Zion – a philanthropic organization that performs free medical surgeries in third world countries.
