Omura Kentaro graduated from Oriental History Department of Tokyo University (1912) and then became lecturer at German Society School.
Omura Kentaro was appointed director of Dai-Nippon Kaikyo Kyokai (Great Japan Islam Association) (1942), nonregular staff member of Dai-Tiasho (Greater East Asia Ministry) (1943) and chief director of Japan Islam Association (1945) and thereafter became chief director of Shukyo Konwakai (Religious Council) (since 1948). Became vice-chairman of Gandhi Peace League (1951).
