Background

Oldberg, Oscar was born on January 22, 1846 in Alfta, Sweden. Son of Anders and Frederika Katrina (Ohrstromer) Oldberg.

Education

Educated Swedish public schools, private teachers and, 1857-1860, at Gymnasium, Gefle, Sweden. (Pharmaceutical D. honoris causa, National College Pharmacy, Washington, 1881. Doctor of Laws, Northwestern University, 1911).

Came to the United States, 1864.

Career

Father of Arne O. Engaged in educational and literature work. Vice-consul of Sweden and Norway at Memphis, Tennessee, 1872. Chief clerk and acting medical purveyor, United States Marine Hospital Service 7 years, and at same time member of faculty of National College Pharmacy.

Dean School of Pharmacy, Northwestern University, 1886-1911.
