Teacher, Wooster U., 1883-1884. Ordained Presbyterian ministry, 1885. Went to Canton, China, as missionary and engaged as teacher, Presbyterian Academy, 1885-1893.

Preached in Iowa, 1894-1895. Pastor, Santa Monica, California, 1895-1898. President Canton Christian College, Canton, China, 1898-1907.

Professor of missions, University of Wooster, 1908-1912. Field investigator Department Church and Country Life, Presbyterian Board of Home Missions, 1912-1914. Pastor Adrian Community Presbyterian Church, Parma, Idaho, 1915-1916.
