BASOV, Osip was born on February 14, 1892.

Career

1918 entered Mamontov Studio. 1919 transferred to Vakhtangov Studio (from 1926 Vakhtangov Theater). One of best representative of Vakhtangov school.

Gifted with keen observation, humor and spontaneity. In 1934 directed Moscow Contemporary Theater. Roles: Revunov-Karaulov in Chekhov's Svad’ba (The Wedding) (1920).

Gustav in Maeterlink's "The Miracle of Street Anthony” (1921). First Rate (at Lloyd's)’toum in Gozzi’s "Turandot” (1922). Podkolesin in Zhenit'ba (Marriage) (1924).

Fedot in Seyfullinaya and Pravdukhin’s Virineya (1925). Louis XIII in Hugo’s "Marion Delorme” (1926). Miller in ’’Kabale und Licbc” (Guile) (1930).

Dostigaycv in Gorkv’s Yegor Bulychyov i drugiye (Yegor Bulychyov and Company) (1932) and Dostigayev i drugiye (Dostigaycv and Company) (1933). Assisted in Vakhtangov Theater productions of: "Kabale und Liebe" (1930). Pogodin's Temporary (Tempo) (1930).
