Osui Arai was born in 1846. Osui Arai was born a retainer of the Sendai Clan, he was commonly called Tsunenoshin.

Career
Рefollowed Takeaki Enomoto in his anti-Government campaigns in the turbulent days following the Meiji Restoration (1868). In Hakodate, Hokkaido, he came under the influence of Nicholas, a Russian missionary. He accompanied Arinori Mori, Education Minister, to the United States, where he embraced Christianity at the guidance of one Harris, a pastor. After staying for about 30 years in he United States, he returned and established the Kenwasha Church.
