Otani joined the Fujiwara Opera Company in 1942. Her debut as an opera singer was made in Gounod's Faust. A coloratura soprano, she has been a leading member of the company. A talented actor, she also appeared in musicaI plays. In 1952 Otani went to America and gave a recital at Town Hall, New York city.
