Otomo no-Fukei

Background

Otomo no-Fukei was born in Japan. He was grandson of Kanamura.

Career

In the Jinshin Civil War (672) between Prince Oama (Emperor Temmu) and Prince Otomo (Emperor Kobun), he fought on Prince Oama's side. Lealding his kinsmen and warriors of his territory, he killed Momotari Hozumi and subdued Prince Takasaka and Prince Wakasa. This feat of his turned the ultimate tide of battle and he was appointed a general for the exploit. Later he defeated invaders from Korea and subdued rebels in Yamato Province (Nara Prefecture).
