Career
Schneider was awarded the Knight"s Cross during the battle of Kovel, while in command of the 7th Company, 5th Steamship Panzer Regiment, 5th Steamship Panzer Division Wiking. He was reported missing in action in April 1945 near Steiermark, Austria, and was in Soviet captivity until 1949.
