Student Georgetown College, District of Columbia. Graduated from the United States Military Academy, 1870.

Career

Commissioned Second lieutenant 1st Cavalry, June 15, 1870. Promoted through grades lieutenant colonel, August 5, 1903. Retired, July 28, 1904.

Active duty against hostile Indians. Recommended for brevetted by General Crook, “for gallant conduct” in campaign against Tonto Apaches, 1873 and 1875. Instructor tactics United States Military Academy, 1874-1879.

Military attache, United States Legation, Vienna, Austria, 1889-1894. Commandant cadets, West Point, 1897-1901.
