1862 graduate Gadyach Uyezd College.
Worked for Tsarist Civil Service — 1863-1864 in Gadyach, 1865-1867 in Priluki, 1867-1871 in Mirgorod. From 1871 accountant, Poltava Province Treasury, after which he held various posts with Treasury Board. 1872 first work published.
After 1817 October Revol worked for Poltava Province Finance Department. 1918-1919 supported Ukraine independence. His Weltanschauung and lit views were influenced by Shevchenko.
Translated Pushkin, Lermontov, Ostrovskiy, Shakespeare and Longfellow into Ukraine. Wrote new translation of “The Lay of the Host of Igor”. A number of his unpublished manuscripts are in the custody of Ukraine museums.
Several schools, libraries, etc, now bear his name, and a monument to him was erected in Poltava in 1951.
