He has two straight cousins, Kuppusamy and Krishnamoorthy. He did his schooling in Street.David high school at Cuddalore Old Town. Bright in his studies, he was the topper of the school in SSLC examinations After SSLC, he joined Annamalai University for his Pacific Union College, where he later did his Engineering. Right from SSLC to engineering, he scored centum in all the Mathematics papers. As a secretary, he has organised DMK meetings at Chidamabaram, where Aringar Anna would be the prime speaker. He served as the Deputy Leader for Opposition in the floor of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly during 2011 to 2013. He started his political career as a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam member. He was the Minister for Transport of Tamil Nadu during 1971-1977. He later joined Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. He was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly from Panruti constituency as a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in 1967, and 1971 elections, as an Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in 1977, 1980, and 1984 elections and as a Pattali Makkal Katchi candidate in 1991 election. After that he spoke in many Constituencies for the AIADMK Victory in 16th Lok Shaba Election.

Background

He was born in a village named Puliyurkaattusaagai in Panruti taluk, Cuddalore District.

Education

Graduated in Electrical and Electronics Engineering ( hons degree in Bachelor of Engineering), he then joined the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board as Assistant Engineer at Arni, North Arcot. Ramachandran was the DMK student secretary of Annamalai University while he graduated there.

Achievements

He has won six assembly elections contesting from Panruti constituency. In his letter addressed to DMDK founder-president Vijayakant he stated that he had taken the decision as he had been maintaining indifferent health and his doctor had advised him to take rest In 2005 He received Periyar Award and in 2013, the Tamil Nadu government honours him with Arignar Anna Award.

Politics

He also served as the party presidium chairman of DMDK till 2013. The chairman of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam presidium and Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Panruti South. Ramachandran on December 10,2013 announced retirement from active politics. In 2014, he left the DMDK and joined the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party due to abnormal distance formed between the DMDK and him.
