She has a bachelor"s degree in geography from Kyung Hee University. And she was the elected floor leader of New Politics Alliance for Democracy between May and October 2014. Park was a MBC television reporter before becoming a politician in 2004.
In 2014, she was elected the first female floor leader of a major opposition party in of Korea.
Park crafted "The Specific Criminal Profits Forfeiture Bill" which is so-called "Lee Hak-soo bill" on February 16, 2015. She said that she had promoted the bill to confiscate illegal profits in an effort to realize "social justice.".
