Partha is a pluralist economist. Recipient of National Scholarship of Government of India, 1978-1984, area study fellowship, 1986-1987 & others. He is the creator of many new ideas in economics: Triangular Imbalance, Voice, Collective Rationality, Norms in Sharing. Chief Editor of International Journal of Development and Conflict & a Co-Editor of Eastern European Business and Economics Journal among others. An author of 100+ articles & books.
Background
Partha was born on December 6, 1963 in Calcutta, India. Son of Prakash Chandra and Uma. He was born into a family that made serious contributions to the realm of intellectual activities and social reforms. He is married to Renu Mahajan who is a senior bureaucrat of NSW Government in Australia. His son, Karno, did a joint degree in Commerce & Psychology from UNSW and works as a re-insurance specialist at Munich Re. His daughter, Ishani, is a budding author and goes to Sydney Girls High School. His dog, Zoe, is a mini fox terrier.

Currently a professor of economics at UWS.

He is the creator of the journal entitled "International Journal of Development and Conflict". He is the creator of many new ideas in economics:Triangular imbalance model of global trade, Relevance of “voice” for avoiding democratic failures, Irrelevance of Independent Central (Reserve) Bank for Australia, Efficient outcome in coalitional bargaining games, Indispensability of collective rationality for social efficiency, Endogenous sharing rule as social norms in rent-seeking & team production etc.
