An economist by profession, prior to his election to parliament, Conroy worked for Greg Combet in his capacity as Minister for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency.
He is aligned with the ALP"s Socialist Left faction.
Conroy has been a Labor member of the Australian House of Representatives, representing the Division of Charlton in New South Wales, since September 2013.
