Career
Convery was elected Lord Mayor of Belfast on 1 June 2010 and served until his term ended in June 2011. He has represented the Castle area of North Belfast since being elected to Belfast City Council in June 2001. He also served as Deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast from 2005 to 2006.
Convery is married with two daughters, and lives in Belfast.
Convery stood for the Northern Ireland Assembly in Belfast North in 2003 and 2007, narrowly missing election on both occasions.
