Patricia Rowell was born on June 30, 1937, in Lufkin, Texas, United States. She is the daughter of Willard Houghton and Mary Edna (Butler) Moore.
Patricia graduated from the University of Texas in 1958, receiving a Bachelor of Arts.
Patricia Frances Rowell is formerly the owner of the telephone service and a bridal shop in Shreveport, Louisiana. She also worked as a marketing representative for the telephone company in Shreveport.
Since 2001 she has been writing for Harlequin Historicals and has published five books with them.
Rowell's first book A Perilous Attraction was published in 2002. Catherine Maury, a woman of passion, determination, and joie de vivre, lights up the pages of this story. At the start of the book, Catherine's guardian announces that he has frittered away her fortune and sold her in marriage to Charles, the seemingly cold but considerate earl of Calbeck. Left with no other options, Catherine proceeds with the nuptials and, while teaching her stoic husband how to embrace life, she slowly grows to love him. The only obstacle they must overcome is a maniacal killer who is determined to terrorize Catherine. This outlandish subplot is one of the book's weaknesses, as is Charles, who doesn't come into focus until midway through the novel. Still, Rowell has drawn a memorable heroine who succeeds in capturing the hero's heart as well as the reader's.
She is the author of A Dangerous Seduction (2003), A Scandalous Situation (2004), A Treacherous Proposition (2005), and An Impetuous Abduction (2008).
Patricia Frances Rowell is an outstanding and prolific author. Her first novel was a RITA Award finalist in 2003 and won the unpublished Daphne Award under its working title in 2001. Her second book took second place in the 2004 published Daphne Award. A Scandalous Situation, published in 2004, also placed second in the 2005 Daphne.
