Patricia Rush was born on October 29, 1948, in San Gabriel, California, United States. She is a daughter of Clifford Langstaff, a music teacher, and Oipha (Shepard) Langstaff, a homemaker.
Patricia studied at California State University, Los Angeles, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969 and a Master of Arts degree in 1972, both in Spanish.
During the period from 1970 till 1985, Patricia served as a high school teacher in San Gabriel, California. In 1987, she was appointed an instructor in Spanish at Ventura College, the post Rush held till September 1989, when she was promoted to the post of a Professor of Spanish and that of Foreign Language Department Chair. Patricia remained in the positions until her retirement in May, 2008. During her tenure at the college, she taught Beginning and Intermediate Spanish, as well as Vocational Spanish for Health Care, School Personnel and Business.
Moreover, Rush directed the Migrant Education Program in the Alhambra School District, as well as the Gifted and Talented Education Program, and served as Dean of Students and Vice Principal in charge of Curriculum. Patricia has traveled extensively throughout the Spanish-speaking world, focusing on Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica and Cuba, and has directed International Studies programs.
During her career, Rush also served as a presenter at state and national conferences. Besides, she gave various presentations on language methodology at the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) and CLTA (California Language Teachers' Association), which were well received.
Rush co-authored several books, including "Mosaicos: Spanish as a World Language" (Second Edition) (1998), "Spanish for Health Care" (2002), "Spanish for School Personnel" (2003), "Spanish for Law Enforcement" (2004) and others.
Patricia Rush is a well-known retired teacher of Spanish, who has penned a number of books for various courses, including Beginning and Intermediate Spanish, Vocational Spanish for Health Care, School Personnel and Business, as well as Spanish for Law Enforcement.
Patricia is the recipient of several grants, including the Language Learning and Multimedia Applications Grant. In addition, in 2000, she was selected "Teacher of the Year" by the Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS).

2004Patricia's primary motivation for writing is a desire to "make language learning (Spanish) relevant to students. She also claims, that the ability to use the second language in a professional setting can help in achieving success in a chosen field.
Patricia is a member of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, National Assistance League and California Language Teachers' Association.
Patricia married Berle F. Rush, a business owner, on January 11, 1969. Their marriage produced one child - Alison M.
