Born in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, Strachota graduated from Saint Mary's College (Indiana).

Career

She served on the Washington County, Wisconsin Board of Supervisors 1986-2002. Strachota also worked for the Washington County Department of Human Resources as a personnel/safety analyst. Strachota has served in the Wisconsin State Assembly since 2005, and also serves as the Assembly Majority Leader.

In February 2014, Strachota announced she will not seek reelection. On November 4, 2014, Bob Gannon was elected to her seat.
